Letters to Heaven

by Calvin Miller

Reaching Across to the Great Beyond

Master wordsmith Calvin Miller writes beautifully poignant letters to those influential voices who have preceded us into eternityshowing us how to live and love now, so that none of us leaves this life with unfinished business.

In these masterfully written letters to heaven, Calvin Miller thanks, lovingly reflects onand sometimes confesses his regrets tothe departed influences in his life. Some are names familiar to us all (C. S. Lewis, Todd Beamer, Johnny Cash); others he knew well; and some he only admired from a distance. But all brought a brightness to his life or challenged him to live more fully in some way. Aware that eternity for any of us is only a step away, Miller has sought to complete the unfinished business of life by writing letters to those who have passed on. This moving work will not only elicit a desire in readers to reconcile all things unfinished, but teach the living about the importance of people and the treasure of faith while holding out for us all the hope that awaits. - Book only - $14.00

"Life is Mostly Edges - A Memoir"  by Calvin Miller

Calvin Miller has for a long time been one of our Christian community's best story tellers.  This is one of his best: the richly textured narrative of his becoming a Christian, becoming a pastor, becoming a professor.  None of these "becomings" easy; all them poignant, painful, and praise-filled.

Surreality Prints by Calvin Miller

Surreality is a word formed by conjoining the English word reality and a French preposition sur, meaning over or upon.   Realism in art was a movement that aimed to paint all subject matter exactly as it was in nature and prided itself on how camera close it came to capturing reality.  But the surrealists were artists who could see that the real nature of reality was not an issue of photorealism.  Reality was in a sense spiritual.  The true nature of things surpassed the camera, and could never be painted as what might be seen with the natural eye.  In this series of paintings is an attempt to get at true reality, by juxtaposing images that get at the real heart of faith.  Such is the impression laid down by these watercolors.  Let us consider these five paintings, one at a time.
